Success is Right Around the Corner

I remember, a number of years ago, I think it was Hillary Clinton who said it, "it takes a village." And I remember how upset everybody was. Boy, both sides of the aisle got into it on that one. Didn't they? "What do you mean it takes a village?" "Are you suggesting that that success is some kind of welfare?" And then, of course, the other side saying, well, "Hey listen, success came certainly because of my hard work. But, ultimately, it took people."
In the end, they were both right. They were both wrong too, but the reality is this, I don't care who you go back to. It takes a lot of hard work. It takes a tolerance for pain. It takes doing what others are unwilling to do. And don't we talk about that like nearly every day about clarity, and focus, and leaning into the pain, and removing the people, places, habits that aren't serving our higher purpose and goals. Don't we talk about having a great corner?
I think about these prize fighters, right? And these guys are making hundreds of millions of dollars, and then time and time and time and time again, we hear that they're flat broke. Excuse me. How do you make hundreds of millions of dollars for getting into a ring and fighting and then wind up broke?
Well, I'll tell you how, you got the wrong people in your corner, whether it's because of complete and total arrogance, which certainly some of that has to be prevalent, right? Any time you are at the top of your game, some people are going to become susceptible to this arrogance or pride. But I might suggest that it's just as much, if not more, this kindness of heart, that these prize fighters or any pro in any area in any industry have these really amazing hearts. And these are their people, right? This is my childhood friend. This is somebody who really likes me, who puts up with my shit. And so they keep them around.
But here's the problem, those people never made hundreds of millions of dollars. They don't know what to do or not do with those hundreds of millions of dollars. So ultimately, what ends up happening is they make all the mistakes that somebody else that has made hundreds of millions of dollars could have easily walked the prize fighter through. To not only not make the mistakes, but hey, how about save money, invest money, and create more momentum and wealth and legacy than anyone had before? It all comes down to who is in their corner. And they had the wrong people in the corner.
It's one of the reasons that I get so frustrated when I'm talking to people, entrepreneurs who are invested in, I don't care if it's a training platform, or a tech platform, or a coaching program where they're listening to people tell them how to structure, run their business, build their lead funnels, convert the lead funnels, have conversations, build a business that creates the wealth and revenue that they say is important.
The problem is that coach, trainer, tech person hasn't yet accomplished what the client has. And again, just like the prize fighter, how can you teach somebody, help somebody, support somebody if you have not yet done it? Well, the answer is you can't, and that is the wrong corner.
So get out there, find the right corner. If you want to make $300,000, you've got to find somebody who has made $300,000. Find the right corner, be focused, lean into the pain. Success is right around the corner.
